Merchant City

In between meetings in Glasgow today I passed by the facade of the early 19th century Hutcheson's Hall under the care of the National Trust.

In a nearby street is a monument marking, in 2005, the 400 years of the guilds in Glasgow which played such a part in the city's growth and place in the British Empire. The basket contains tools to represent the guilds and the merchants of the city.

It was a sparkling day - fresh and sunny - and the city looked superb ( and I speak as an Edinburgh lad!)
