Building Nest
Today was another nest building day. In between those lovely spring "rain showers", I was able to document a bit of the activity at the nest. It was surprising to have several nearby folks stopping by to tell me what they had been observing. Everyone is excited about the resident eagles, and hoping for a new chick or chicks this year.
According to several sources, both the female and the male help build the nest, and each year it is usually bigger, as they continually add on to reinforce it There have been some unusually large nests found, but the average is a 7 foot diameter. The nest is usually flat, not cupped.
