Walking into the clouds

The walkers were making the right decision as the clouds soon lifted.

The rocks are the Worm Stones and the track leads to a hill called Harry Hut. Just beyond that hill it is possible to follow a stone slab path over the boggy moors all the way to Kinder Scout (highest point in the Peak District). The route goes via Mill Hill and the short but steep ascent is via Ashop Head.

No walk today but late afternoon we had a quick circular tour in the car up Holme Moss and into Yorkshire. We stopped at the summit and it was bright but very chilly even in the light winds. There were Golden Plover close enough to pick out by eye and Red Grouse displaying. Further on there were good views of Curlew and a pair of Oystercatchers feeding very near the road.
