Hatton Gallery
I was at university today, learning how to write in research.
Newcastle university buildings are beautiful and nestled in amongst them is the Hatton gallery. This is the entrance of the grade II listed building (the curator told me today that now even the floorboards have now been listed too!), it is beautiful inside and out. The gallery has some permanent artwork but it mostly has temporary exhibitions. The gallery was founded in 1925 and was named Hatton gallery in honour of Richard George Hatton, professor at the school of art.
The temporary work on display currently is by Peter Yates, who was a painter and architect. I especially enjoyed his local paintings including one of Dunstanburgh castle.
The gallery is free to visit (donations welcome) and well worth a look.
