Swapping places
Slightly divided loyalties for me today as our college team (in red) took on the college Adam attended to do his A levels.
Or so I thought when we arrived.
As soon as we kicked off there was only one team I wanted to win.
Our college team started the day in 3rd place. A win would see us swap places with our opponents.
A game that we dominated from start to finish shouldn't have been as close as it was. We took the lead only to concede an equaliser within a minute.
In the second half we kept pressing and got the reward with about 5 minutes to go.
With the clock running down and us holding a 2-1 lead one of our opponents went down in the penalty area. It seems only the referee decided it wasn't a penalty.
After the game he had the good grace to apologise for his mistake to the opposition.
So we still have an outside chance of winning the league.
When I called college with the good news I was asked who our best player was. That question was far too difficult to answer as every player was a candidate.
3 games left and all to play for.
