Invaders!

I found this in my shed today. It was a bit more in tact until I poked it, then it kind of crumbled apart. Luckily there were no wasps in it, but a huge (queen?) had just flown out of the shed before I spotted this.

I can't work out if it was the start of a new nest or the remains of an old one. Tonight I investigated a bit more and found another part of one hanging, and I could see the honeycomb shape within that one, but again, no wasps around.

Grrr, pesky useless things. Cue, lots of people telling me why they're not useless...I assure you I wont be convinced!
