Foodies' delight

Only a 30 minute drive out of Southampton, the tiny village of Kimbridge is in complete contrast to the hussle and bustle of the city, and to many is an oasis.
It lies on the River Test, and is known among anglers as one of the best chalk stream fly fishing locations in the country.
Hence the seven miles of the Test at this spot is an oasis of tranquility, and flowing through what in essence is one country estate, is also home to a highly specialised farm shop and restaurant.
The farm shop is now run by a traditional butchery organisation, and in times past I have bought delightful fresh trout here.
The entrance across this spectacular footbridge bridge over an artificial pond is a taster for what to expect.

But there is water all around, and several streams of the Test give the village its recognisable identity  as a great sporting estate. But browse the farm shop and the butchery or stop off at the adjoining  restaurant pantry and it is a haven for foodies
