Fireplace
This is a picture of the mantle and fire place in my living room. During the winter time my dad usually builds a fire in the fireplace and sometimes we will roast marshmallows and smores. When I was little I used to be scared to go down into the pit by the fire, even when there wasn’t a fire burning. I’m not scared of it anymore, but my dogs are. Every time one of their balls rolls into the pit they bark until someone gets the ball for them. There is a brick wall behind the fireplace that matches the brick on the outside of my house. We have a mantle attached to the wall. Around Christmas time my mom decorates the mantle with carolers, fake snow, fake trees, and our stockings. Any other time of the year there are three pictures on the mantle. There is a big one in the center that is of our family. We used this picture on a Christmas card a few years ago. This picture is special because my pappy used to take our Christmas picture and this is the last one that he got to take of us. To the right there is a picture of my mom and dad on their wedding day. To the left is my latest school photo. Above the mantle there bricks that have my mom and dad’s names on them and the year the house was built. My name isn’t on this wall because I was born in 1997 and the house was built in 1993. My grandfather built my house, and it was the last house that he built before he retired.
