Village reflections
A morning of chores including increasing Waitrose's profits yet again and taking Thomas back to school to fetch his trumpet which he had forgotten to bring home...
This is the view I see as I drive along doing my chores in the village. The red brick house that is being reflected in the water used to be a superb restaurant, but it closed down more than 5 years ago and it has stood unoccupied since then. It is a beautiful Grade II listed building that was once popular for weddings and other functions. It is currently for sale and I was hoping that someone like Heston Blumethal or Gordon Ramsay might buy it, but no takers yet!! Actually, that would only increase traffic in the village so maybe not them....
I am helping Adam pack as he leaves tomorrow to go on a tennis camp in Portugal for 5 days. He is looking forward to playing tennis and enjoying some sunshine, but the required 4.45am check in at Gatwick Airport is not going down too well! Luke is working long hours and enjoying earning his own money. It is hard work, de-fouling a boat's hull is quite messy work but he just gets on with it and does not complain. Last night it took him 3 hours to get home due to a problem on the motorway - as Gavin said to him, welcome to the world of commuting to work.
We thoroughly enjoyed watching The 100 Foot Journey with Helen Mirren and Om Puri last night on TV - a delightful film that will leave you feeling hungry after watching those chefs create their masterpiece dishes.
