I like the contrast of the hairy and the smooth - to quote Alan Bennett quoting the Bible: "But my brother Esau is an hairy man, but I am a smooth man."

The day went a little pear-shaped - we couldn't sing our concert in Bristol as my duet partner was/is unwell.
