It's Grim Up North

I saw my first of the year when I was walking the dog. It's somewhere in this field.

Anyway, back to Derelict Thursday.
As Freespiral and Himself usually choose ten favourites between them, I decided on a short list of ten and then a shorter list of five out of the ten.
Are you keeping up with the logic?

I choose using gut reaction rather than technical knowledge. The rules of photography are there to be broken.

So my top five, in particular order, are:
KD - Street corner. I loved the colours in this and in particular the contrast between the rundown building and the waiting woman who is dressed in fresh clothing and gives the impression of having stepped straight out of the shower onto the street. Even her sneakers are gleaming.
RockArea - No More Happy Holidays. The sweeping line of shed roof really brings this alive. Nice processing too.
Soletrader - Your...  I can never resist a semi abstract / surreal and amusing shot.
Lesley456 - One Careful Owner. There is always humour is Lesley's photos and she has a style all of her own that she isn't aware of! (One of my favourite journals.)
Miranda1008 - An old piano and one or two triangles. Beautifully composed and the soft colours are delightful.

And my five runners up from the list of ten are:
Stuart Robertson - Abandoned. I liked this because of his use of the wide angle and the vibrancy of the day.
Gennepher - derelictthursday. I liked the hyper close up intimacy of this. If you don't like spiders, look away.....
SpotsOfTime - Troutbeck Valley. A classic Lake District shot, so maybe I'm biased?
CatchitwhenIcan - Just needs a little TLC. I think Charlie Chaplin is about to emerge from this shot.
Miffy - Salty Dreams. Miffy seems to have found Popeye's boat.

Will give ht's to the top five as they come available.
Thanks to everyone for taking part. There were 88 entries this week.

And, if you've made it to the bottom, this is my 365th entry!
