Marjorie's ramblings

Paris, Monmartre and Sacre Coeur

It all went very smoothly today. I had a lie in until 0830. I must say that the beds at Premier Inns are wonderfully comfortable. After breakfast I watched Only Connect from last Monday - must be one of the best episodes yet. Then to St Pancras to meet the Country Walking group.

Eurostar was comforable enough but I was suprised at how cramped we all were and how little luggage space there was. Perhaps this is why it specifies on their website that you cannot take washing machines or fridges on as luggage..........!

Our hotel is just below Monmartre. It's comfortable and quirky.

We walked through Monmartre and heard all sorts of stories about the area. In between we were all chatting to get to know each other. (We are threatened with labels for tomorrow!)

Here is Sacre Coeur at the top of our ascent and in the golden hour.  Only 4 of us went inside where silence is expected and no photography allowed. The ceiling murals are wonderful.  Quite unexpected.

Dinner was in a rustic restaurant where the food arrived gradually, but was very good when it came.

I'm on early breakfast tomorrow - the dining room here is tiny so we - 19 of us - have to go in shifts!
