Melting at the Pond
Dear Diary,
The recent warm temperatures and rain have begun to melt the thick ice covering of the pond. This photograph is a bit deceiving though. That is not open water but puddles on the surface of the ice...about 2-3 inches deep. But it is a start.
The pond is still grey and white mostly with no hint of spring except for the large puddles. These may freeze over tonight since the temperatures will again be below freezing. One day gives and the next takes away. Such is March in northern New England.
One develops patience living in a climate like this and yet, at times, we can experience four seasons in one day! The only thing you can say with certainty is if you don't like the weather just wait 15 minutes, it will change!
