Trellis

This is the trellis we put up yesterday.
The brown jumble of plant below is a beautiful Clematis Montana Rubens which used to scramble across the fence and has done so for well over 20 years. Since we had the fence replaced a couple of years ago though it hasn't done so. We realised this was because whenever a shoot went through the gap in the fence it was cut off and so the plant couldn't support itself.
Hopefully we've found a way around this. We've put green chicken wire onto the fence, then mounted the trellis in front of it, hopefully with judicious support and encouragement we will once more have a beautiful display mid spring.
