Female Kingfisher

We were up at 3:30 am this morning, en route to a trout farm in Rutland, where the osprey fly in to fish the waters. We were in position for 5:30 am and were rewarded nearly immediately when this female kingfisher flew in and hung about for a few minutes. We also picked up kestrel, kite and an osprey close by in a tree … but the fishing shot will have to wait for another day, I’m afraid.
