one day in France

We left mum's at 01.45 and found that both the M20 and the M2 were closed for overnight roadworks! The trains only run every two hours at that time of night, and we were too late to check in, but luckily the train was delayed so we managed to catch it, arriving in Calais while it was still dark. We watched the sunrise and enjoyed gorgeous sunny weather until we got to Le Mans where the mist came down. Eventually we got home to the Charente Maritime at lunchtime, where it was cloudy and drizzling, and letting ourselves into our house we found that a mouse had been chewing the oven glove that Mr F got for Christmas!
It feels like we have been away for ages, the grass has grown, the field of rape is coming into flower, and the blossom is falling off the trees. The dogs were pleased to be collected from kennels, we took them for a long walk, and they haven't moved from the fireside since we got back; it's lovely to be home, now where did we put that mousetrap?
