... and I came across the battlefield will of my great-uncle. Daniel McKay was 18 years old and in the 10/11th Bn Highland Light Infantry. He died on the Somme on 30th July 1916. His name is on the Thiepval Memorial among the more than 72,000 names of commonwealth soldiers whose bodies simply disappeared.....
What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?
