The Wood

The wood stork...Woody...the Woodman...King Edwood...Woodrow.

Every time I see or use the name Woodrow, it takes me back about 35 years. My daughter Julie was born, and we were off to Missouri to take a 5 generation picture at the local paper...the Bloomfield Vindicator. After driving all day we pulled into my Uncle Woodrow's place, and it was very late.

He answered the door wearing a full length silky powder blue nightshirt...COMPLETE WITH MATCHING HAT!! (The image gave me nightmares for years!) And...if that wasn't bad enough...he offered us head cheese as a late night snack. No thank you...Woodrow. Despite the nightwear, he and my Aunt Ovella were good people.

I'm a bachelor again. Not the kind of Bachelor  that has 20 women waiting for him in the hot tub, but rather the kind of bachelor that just dropped his girlfriend (wife) off at the airport. She is heading home to Michigan, and I will follow her soon.

I made her go with me this afternoon to a couple of my bird spots. I also made her stand in a couple of spots (near the crab traps) where the smells are VERY potent.

She was a good sport.
