Bumblebee nest
I finally lifted the compost bin off the pile of compost that the bumblebees had a made a nest in over summer. I expected to find the whole pile was full of cells but there was just a small clump at the top, about 30. There was no honey as bumblebees don't store honey but a slight stickiness and a definite smell of honey. This is a closeup to try and show the waxy look. Other closeups showed small white mites or similar running around but so minute they only showed up under the + 7 macro filters.
I shovelled the compost out and put the cells back in the bottom in case the odd bumblebee came looking.
