Red-winged Blackbird
Taken on an outing to the Rail Trail (Station Road in Amherst)--late morning, warm and quite humid.
Not a wonderful image, but I like that it's munching on an insect (best seen large). It's also a bit fuzzy but at least the red-and-yellow epaulette shows well--that gives the Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) its name. This one is perched in the midst of high dead trees in the marsh along the trail--thus the very busy background.
