One species each day (from my backyard)
Way too late again. I've been busy trying to level the floor all day, and only had time for some photos after I had cleaned up the dining room. While looking for a new species to photograph, I heard a hedgehog, but it took a while before I saw it. They usually curl up, so would be an easy model, but this one lifted itself high up on its legs and ran away into the neighbour's backyard. Then I tried a few other fern leaves and spiders until I remembered the stick insects of which there always a few chewing on the Coprosma leaves. There were more than I expected, green ones and light brown ones, even on the ferns underneath. All still pretty small for the time of the year, about 50 mm long. This one is probably a Tectarchus salebrosus.
