The track

Part of the big bend of the track on the main line from Adelaide to Melbourne. In the Belair National Park.

This part of the Melbourne-Adelaide track has a pedestrian crossing on it – ok it’s a bit remote, and I doubt very much if a lot of people use it.  But it’s right between two bends, and there isn’t a sign saying beware of trains.  There isn’t even a fence between the park and the railway line.  It would be so easy to be caught out if you didn’t have your wits about you.

There was such a hoo-ha when the Railways closed down our other crossing at the bottom of the hill, and it’s a much safer crossing than this one.
