Everest of canoeing
On Saturday 4th April 2015 my friends will be canoeing from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster Bridge in Central London.
They will be taking part in the nonstop race, which should hopefully take 24 hours, supported by a willing group of there family and me who will keep them provided with food, drink, encouragement, spare clothes etc.
The event has a fantastic history and is regarded as the toughest canoe race in the world. In 2012 Sir Steve Redgrave took part and had to pull out. Every year, on average, about a third of the competitors fail to get to Westminster. It is regularly described as the Everest of canoeing.
I will be "blipfoto"ing the event, but if you are on twitter can you please follow @jddw15 where we will be giving regular updates and photos of the event.
