East Dean
East Dean near Chichester is a pretty little place with a village pond which is considered by to be the source of the River Lavant that I blipped last week. Around 200 people live here now. Used to a thatched village but 150 years ago a fire destroyed lots of houses and barns, and they were rebuilt with slate roofs. Another historic village, several Bronze age mounds can be found near by and lots of flint tools, the outline of Celtic field systems and even a Roman pottery.
Quite atmospheric this afternoon with lowering clouds and wild weather. But the Willows are looking lovely.
