Fed and watered

What a difference a meal makes. The plan had been to spend the night in Yorkshire so that Gill could drive her mum and dad up to Perth and the fishing. The drive is a bit too tiring now for her dad but this arrangement would allow him to drive around when they got here.

Except they just weren't well enough. Had we known, we would have delayed a day but we were well on the way in the Midlands when we found out. A quick change of plan - to avoid catching their bug - and we just kept on going. It's not easy finding a dog friendly hotel in Cumbria on a Saturday night.

We ended up in Ambleside and this why Gill is smiling as she's just had a nice Italian meal at Dodd's, a small but really good Italian restaurant next to the Apple Pie shop. So all's well with the world. Horrid weather and motorways so not a day for photographs. Gill responds to food like a wilting flower perks up with a drink. It brought her smile back.
