The first blossom
The first full day of the Easter hols and there were a hundred things we could have and would have done if the weather had been kinder. It rained most of the day and when it wasn't raining it was blowing an icy gale. It seemed like a waste of an extra hour in the day.
At about 4 o'clock we decided to drive to Croydon to buy new bedding for Sal's room. What on earth possessed us? It was like a bizarre game in The Cube or Crystal Maze. Race across town, against the clock, get to the shop, the tannoy bleating: 'Customers, you have FIVE minutes to get your act together and leave' or words to that effect. We split up in five different directions, shouted instructions to the kids: 'single sheet!', 'fitted sheet!', 'duvet cover!', 'DUVET!' and raced panting to the tills, clutching our items: 'STOP THE CLOCK!!'
I hope she likes her new bedding. I think it has elephants on it. I could be wrong. It was all a bit of a blur.
Edit: this brilliant spoof movie trailer tries to explain daylight saving. Thanks to Blackdrake for the link :-)
