New York
Every year for chorus, we go on a New York trip to see a Broadway show. This years trip was to see Phantom Of the Opera at the Majestic Theatre. Our day was to basically come to school, leave at the end of 6th period, stop for food, and eventually end up in New York. Being that we got there a little early, we went next door to a shop that sold overly priced New York City apparel... I thought it was a waste of money but it was a way to waste time until doors opened at 6:30.
Now, i personally hate Phantom Of the Opera. I think its the stupidest/most boring story ever written, but that didnt stop us from seeing it. I think that there are only certain people who can pull it off and the woman who played Christine was lacking in vocal ability. Unless you can sing opera, dont even attempt it. Yes, she had a good vocal range but she couldnt hit the high notes required for the role... But thats just my opinion.
The rest of the show was okay. It was like watching a high school play with actors who actually knew what they were doing. Even though i thought the play was borderline mediocre, the theatrics were the complete oppostite in the sense that they were well thought out.
Eventually, the show ended and we were going home.
I feel like the trip was successful, but almost a waste of money. I think that we shouldve left earlier that day and been given the opportunity to explore a little, maybe find somewhere (that wasnt mcdonalds) to eat. I dont know, i think it would've felt more like a trip, instead of a waste.
