Mine

There are usually a number of Blackbirds on our front lawn, as we put food out for them. Last year a pair nested close by and reared, we think quite successfully, three broods. They do seem to be getting a bit more aggressive now and I wondered whether this one was marking out his territory for another year. He sat on the gate for a long time and seemed to be watching for intruders. Or maybe it’s my imagination. (And now I’ve gone and admitted that the gate that needs painting is ours!)
