Growing and Dying

I passed by this old building that had some ivy growing along with some wisteria and also something that had turned brown.  The area in front of this little building is just hard packed dirt.  I don't know how anything is growing in it but the ivy must really like it as it has almost taken over the whole side and part of the front.
