Capturing my Journey

Charriot Awaits

Three new lambs on the rounds first thing this morning. All looked fine although this ones mum abandoned him for the feeding. She is a gimmer (first time lamber) and again had abandoned him when I went round the rounds at lunch time so I decided I had better bring them into the shed to hopefully get a better bond going. No quad bike here so she got a ride in the wheelbarrow to the shed. Thought this was quite a sweet wee photo with the wheelbarrow waiting in the background! The weather is atrotious with 45mph gusting wind and heavy hail showers that believe me hurt any exposed skin like you wouldn't believe.

We have named the heifer calf Jessie after Emmys suggestion. There will be a few more needing names. She is still struggling with getting hold of the teats so still in the shed getting helped to feed. Personally I think she just doesn't want to go back out!! The twins that I brought into the shed are looking much better and not needing milk from me. I have put them in bigger pen in the open sided shed to reacclimatise them to the outside and to check all still ok before they go out.

Still got more checks to do later so just putting this on before I run out of time. Spent the morning preparing wedder (castrated male) lambs on the farm where we manage livestock for their trip down to a golf course in Oxfordshire where they will be grazing the rough.

3c 20mph gusting 45mph W with wind chill to -1c. Heavy hail/snow/rain showers.
