a lifetime burning

One of the herd

Its band rehearsal tonight, so this blip is being uploaded with indecent haste.

This is one of the Bristol Swans - apparently there have been swans in the Bristol Docks for more than 300 years and Bristol has its very own swan keeper.  It sounds a dangerous job to me...

I'm tempted to call them a flock of swans, but a quick look on line suggests that the correct collective noun for swans is a herd, but it just doesn't seem right to me.  Another alternative is a game of swans, but that doesn't seem to be taking them seriously enough, and swans are serious birds when all is said and done.  A colony of swans could be appropriate in the case of the Bristol Docks swans.  But my preference would be a royalty of swans.
