The Meadow
I managed to order and pay for a new single divan and mattress for the old study from the comfort of my bed last night. Oh, the joys of the interweb. It's truly amazing.
I spent most of the morning today with the trainee. He's still very green and I'm not convinced by his ability (slightly nice but dim I fear) but I need to persevere as I haven't given him much of a shot yet. Things got a bit manic before I left but I got away about half an hour late which wasn't bad going.
When I left the wind was still blew pretty fiercely, but it was still a gorgeous day of sunshine with blustery showers. I dropped some deeds into a client and had lunch.
Then I went for a delicious, leisurely mooch round the Millshop for fabric for the back bedroom curtains and on checking some of the new sample books recommended by one of the girls, I spotted this material, which is just what I wanted to go with the blue cow parsley wallpaper in there already. Perfect. And very reasonably priced too.
When I got home I quickly measured up and sent the measurements to JH, the curtain lady, who has now told me how much fabric I need and I'll try to order it tomorrow or Thursday.
I've done some washing but the showers have thwarted my efforts to dry to outdoors despite the good wind. My sheets are billowing damply. I've also completed some sheets of analysis for the garden design and am itching to have a go at re-designing it once I can get my hands on an electronic cheat's measurer and get the measurements sorted for my graph paper, then I can get sketching. I haven't had a call back from the designer I've left a message for, which is disappointing. Still, it's early days and holiday time so I hope she will come back to me eventually.
My brother in law, S, pitched up with his hired van this evening to pick up the furniture. He was exhausted poor thing and it was lucky L was here to help him. They've still got so much unpacking, finishing off, cleaning and organising ahead of them. I've sent a little housewarming pressie home with him which I'm hoping they like.
