A real British American alliance
Today came and went in the blink of an eye!
When the Smiths met the Haase-Bernatchez's after 32 years!
In my blip a couple of days ago I told the story of our Mums' long term friendship and how their respective sons and daughters had kept in touch even after their mums passings.
My hub and BiL were there to collect our literally long lost friends from the train station this morning.......with their respective partners and children. Even after all this time, there was no mistaking their smiling faces. It was so lovely to finally meet them, from my own point of view, having heard so much about them over the years.
After a quick freshen up and a cup of tea we all, piled back, into the cars and went to Hamble village and had a lovely wander looking around the marina, in much better conditions than we had had on Sunday, thankfully! Down on the river front, we found the bench, where we had photographed both mums and our dad on their very last visit together. It seemed right that their own four children sat in the very same spot for a photograph too. That was going to be my blip for, today initially.
Once we all got back to sis and BiLs house, their own four grown up children called round, together with their own children, so it seemed more fitting that I use a group photo to remember this day :-)
We ferried our friends back to the train station this evening after a light tea, so that they can continue their family visit to London, before flying back to the states over the weekend.
We all parted after a lovely visit leaving the ball firmly in our court for the next get together in New York :-)
