From Glas allt Shiel

Enjoying a visit from some old friends, we celebrated my last day as an employee of my former employer with a circuit of Loch Muick, above Ballater.

The forecast promised a day of sunshine and showers: our 3-hour walk alternated between stiff mountain breezes, snow showers and bright sunshine! Here, in one of the sunnier intervals, we seen the view across the loch a little after the half-way point, from the lawn in front of the house that Queen Victoria built, now surrounded by mature Scots Pine trees on the shore of the loch at Glas-allt-Shiel.
