Oaks and Moss

Romalina moss looks much like Spanish moss, but is a mixture of lichen and moss that grows on large trees in western U.S.  This lichen/moss combination is very susceptible to smog and other types of ozone pollutions.  You generally find Romalina moss on large trees where the air is clean or refreshed by coastal fog and winds.

There is an abundance at Filoli.
