Derelict Thursday

We set off this morning for New Norcia, described to us by MollyMay as a monastery town in the bush. We’ve spent a lot of time in cities over the last couple of weeks so a trip to Wup, Wup was a refreshing prospect.

The monastery is amazing just because of where it is. Truly in the middle of nowhere! It started as a mission to the aborigines by Spanish Benedictine Monks in the early part of the 1800’s and ended up as the monastery we saw today.

My Derelict Thursday blip is taken in what used to be the laundry. The building now contains a selection of old tools, small and large, which were used by the people who have lived in the Monastery over the last 150 years.
