Hope(less)
We are heading in to what, for some, is a very holy time, a time to focus on growth and rebirth and to embrace hope. But as I began my morning, on this first truly spring like day we have had, contemplating ham and turkey and family, i faced a fresh reality. This motel is one of the seedier ones in town where we regularly go to drop off psychiatric meds to some clients, a place where people with few resources and less hope can live in a sparse room for a mere $800 a month. For some, this shabby balcony housed their "Easter dinner". And I was reminded that, there but for the grace of God go I. It was a bit like a glass of cold water in the face, but a needed reminder of how really blessed I am.
