Pink Coat

Mi had worked out that the best disguise was no disguise at all. The trick was to hide behind something so obvious that the obvious was all that people could remember.

That morning, she put on a bright pink coat and went to rob a bank. Well, a building society, really. She knew that the best description that the workers would be able to give was "Asian girl in a pink coat". And, given the English embarrassment around race, it was more likely to be "Girl in a pink coat".

She left the building society with £5,000 and a pink coat. After a quick detour into the department store next door, she had £5,000 and no coat.

On the news that evening, police appealed for witnesses who might have seen an "attractive girl in a pink coat".
