Seven Spot Ladybird
http://wp.me/pieTR-ap
I can clearly remember the first harlequin ladybird I saw, around ten years ago. And I remember what happened after that - all the other ladybirds disappeared. We still get a few seven spot ladybirds and the occasional two spot early in the season. I assume they have overwintered as adults, having hidden away to escape the wave of harlequins the previous year. But after a few weeks they go, then it's harlequins all the way down.
