Daphne laureola

The "Spurge Laurel" is a shrub indigenous to the UK and many European countries favouring chalk or limestone woodlands. However we are not on calcareous soil and this specimen is looking very happy. We have walked past this shrub hundreds of times and I've never taken much notice. It only has a scent to the flowers in the evening so being around 1pm it was scentless.
