Good Friday?
First dead lamb this morning must have been born in the rain last night and not been strong or clever enough to get its first milk. Feel sorry for the ewe I can here her bleating forlornly for her baby that's lost. Usually in this instance I twin on a pet but we don't have any yet so no lamb for this girl. I put out the pair from the other day that weren't bonding. They are super together now and wont leave each other. They have a spray paint marker on them so I can easily identify them from a distance.
Jessie got put out to the wild outdoors today with her mum. All happy there thankfully. Hermione has been playing hide and seek with Heather with us today and twice we have had to spend half an hour looking for her. Cattle like deer put there young in a hidden sheltered spot while they go off to graze and can end up quite far away but the calf wont move until mum comes back. I actually ended up teaching Breagh to "find the calf", in the morning I found it and in the afternoon Breagh found it.
This picture I took in a brief glimpse of sunshine on my lunchtime rounds. The lamb is from a cheviot mother and is from the Shetland tup. Its a boy unfortunately again we would like females from this tup.
Feeling drained today not even chocolate and copious cups of tea can perk me up!!
7c SW 11mph dreich and wet this morning with odd glimpses of sun and breaks in the showers.
