Carol and the Jewish women
Today's the day ................... for street theatre
There's been a wonderful bit of street theatre going on in town recently when the events leading up to Easter have been dramatically re-enacted in the streets of Kendal.
This afternoon, it was the plot to frame Jesus, his arrest, the trial and his subsequent crucification. This is the bit after Pontius Pilot gave the crowd the chance to save one of the prisoners - and they all chose the baddie - Barabas. These are some of the Jewish women, disciples of Jesus - and that's my friend Carol with the violin, about to play the Disciples' Threnody.
Considering it all took place in very familiar surroundings - and I knew a fair number of the people taking part - it was very easy to forget all that and feel as if this was how it might have been. You found yourself being carried away by the crowd - and mob rule really was ok.
The members of Kendal Community Theatre did a great job with their 'Passion for Kendal'...............................
