excerpts from a life

Heaven

I couldn't watch the sunrise before this February because by the time I left home, the sun hadn't risen yet, and by the time I arrived school it was already daytime. But until mid February I've been watching the sunset almost every morning, and I have to say that it is something that I had been aching for -- the humbling and calming solace of watching the sunrise is just a unique experience everyone should go through. The birds singing, the not-quite-awake city, the colours changing every single second, the contrast shifting, the realization that we are all on a blue planet who orbits around a huge ball of fire and 100 years later this all will be for naught, so why not enjoy the view?

Specifically this morning might be my favourite sunrise of all time -- I just can't stop thinking about the colours and the texture and the way the picture just is. I always loved the fact that every time I take the picture of the sky during sunrise I have the Anthill buildings in front of me -- they remind me that I am still in the city, still in a place I don't necessarily love but the sky doesn't care. Wherever I go nature is with me, and it is still as beautiful as ever.

Ella might have been singing about this morning. This might be heaven.
