Mimosa Treat

The fragrance of mimosa is always a joy to me, but not easy to find in these parts.
So this single fine specimen growing in a back garden in the town centre of Romsey is an eye-opener.
Time was when I had the privilege of regular journeys to the south of France and being able to drive through the biggest mimosa forest on the Côte d'Azur. The fragrance from the vivid yellow blossom, tons of it, was almost overpowering in the nicest possible way. One year I was fortunate enough to make three trips to Nice airport in just three weeks and each time being able to take the autoroute out to the point where it runs through the forest. Such joy.
So not only did the discovery of this tree in the centre of Romsey give me special delight, it also brought back fond memories.
