Genes.

N, the front desk lady at my Friday site began her retirement today.  She has done this difficult job for nearly thirty years, answering the phone, booking appointments, arriving patients, fielding questions from clinicians - sometimes all at the same time...  There was a little ceremony, gifts were presented, speeches were made and the department's day went on.  Towards closing time her family came to fetch her.  Here they are, three generations of genes who agreed to pose for me.  N, we will miss your County Cork brogue and charm.  Enjoy some peace and quiet, well-deserved!  The department joke is that the patients loved the brogue so much that we'll either have to hire another Irish person for the job, or we'll all have to learn the accent.
