The Thaw

One of the things I make a note of every year is the first day I notice that all the ice is off the swamp. Today was that day. Why this is important to know I'm not sure but if you ever need to have that information, I'm your person.

My former neighbor and I exchanged some texts today (the dad of the two pugs I used to take care of daily who up and moved his family to Texas and left a two-pug sized hole in my heart) The oh-Texas-is-so-fabulous-in-the-winter-why-don't-you-move-here-nonsense is getting quite old. Because the summers are sucky hot and there are a few two many Bushes in the state for my taste, I always tell him.
