Three Lads
A glorious day here today, I even ended up sunburned. We were with the brass band at Sam's Cross for a commemoration this afternoon. A tiny bend in the road where there is a memorial plinth and plaque to Michael Collins, a hero to some, not to others, of the Irish War of Independence and the Irish Civil War back in the 1920s. Some of you might have seen the movie .He was a local lad and this area is very much Collins country. It was music, then speeches which though some were very interesting, were a tad long in the heat, then more music. Then tea, scones, sandwiches in the marquee. It was a quintessentially West Cork event, very local, one speaker was thanked twice for coming all the way from Dublin. A few more here .
