Queen of thrones

We drove to Doune Castle today with Katie, our family student of history. Doune Castle is situated about ten miles north east of Stirling and dates from the 14th century. It was the home of Robert Stewart, Duke of Albany, Regent to three of Scotland's monarchs. The audio guide was more interesting than normal, given it was narrated by Terry Jones of  Monty Python fame. The castle was used as location for Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as well as Outlander and some scenes from Game of Thrones.
It is well worth a visit, especially on a day as beautiful as today was.
