Back to "normal"
........but something missing!
Early start. especially as J wanted his Bavarian breakfast to avoid having to eat the somewhat fatty Ryanair on-board, inflight catering. To the airport which was packed to the seams. He had to wait at least 4 minutes to get through security. Memmingen gives a 10 minute free parking and although we parked the car, walked to the terminal, I waited till he was through security and drove to the car park barrier, managed to do it all within the time limit!
Thought I would wait alongside the runway as J had a window seat on the side he would be able to see me ..... at leat normally. Hadn't realised the wind had changed to the East and they were taking off the "wrong" way. Still waited and just as he took off, Angie called to ask me to pick up Flash as he was not doing well on the walk. Dashed home and picked him up. Due to all the trees blocking the paths, Angie had had to go much further with him than planned. He seems to be suffering suddenly very badly after a few weeks of going very well.
Well the house is empty again. It was such a shame Kate & family couldn't make it but I fully understand given the circumstances. When Kate was about 2 year old, we dragged her around on a tour of southern Bavaria just as she caught whooping cough. It was a dreadful experience, so I can empathise with her. I am sure we will make it up soon. They have had a good Easter Sunday and J was very good collecting the eggs in the garden which I will be sending by post to hopefully help with the recovery.
J & I have to be thankful to Kate & Co. We were able to have a great dad & son weekend. It was great and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We were also blessed with a wonderful sunny day in Munich and even the snowy day yesterday fitted the circumstances. If it had been sunny as well, we would have got drunk, sunning in front of a hut and not achieved our plans.
Naturally, the whole thing was also only possible thanks to Angie's work in the background, preparing everything and doing all the daily work to allow us to get out & about.
Rest of the day relaxed. Cold east wind but very pleasant in a sheltered sun facing spot. As it's still relatively cool, brought in a bale of haylage for the horses. It should be OK and we have started to spread it out in the stables so that it can fully dry and not start to get warm and re-ferment.
Can't do any work on the fallen trees. Still waiting to hear something from the forestry people. Will probably send them something in writing with photos. Quite understandable that we aren't a priority and we don't need anything clearing straight away but for one tree blocking the exit to a field which I can saw up and a few trees hanging over our property which could come down at any time. Will wait as we don't want to upset anyone who anyone who we might need in future!. And anyway with Easter, we can't use chainsaws at the moment.
