Community Cycles

Finally, bicycle sharing has arrived in Japan. It's being rolled out in all the main cities and as is often the way Japan has to go one better.  These are power assisted bikes and at 500 yen for the day (about 3 UK pounds) they are a bargain! There are also instructions on how to rent them in English which is highly unusual. There are designated docking stations at various points across the city. 

Speculation is that they are part of improvements to the infrastructure for attracting tourists in preparation for the Olympics 2020.  Whatever the motivation they are a great idea so fingers crossed they take off!
